Meet Our Tutors
Michael Zhuhovitsky
Founder & Tutor in Math, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus
I started out working as a tutor when I was in high school and since then have gained 12+ years of experience with helping students achieve and maintain their academic goals in Math and Sciences. Along the way, I completed my BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary and gained industry experience before deciding to pursue opening my very own tutoring center.
I started Ace It Tutoring not only to help students achieve the success and confidence that plays a pivotal role in University admissions but to also develop the critical thinking skills that will help them throughout their lives. As part of this mission, I personally interview, hire, and train each tutor to ensure they have a comprehensive understanding of the Alberta Math and Science curriculum and how to break down complex theories into simple concepts.

My tutoring philosophy
I believe that practice makes perfect, and working through problems is the best way to understand concepts on a deeper level. My approach involves guiding students through examples while allowing them to make the connections themselves, so that they can gain confidence in the material and better apply their knowledge independently.

What I enjoy about tutoring
My favorite thing about tutoring is helping students become more confident in themselves academically, and start to enjoy the process of problem-solving and improvement.

Plans for the future
I graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Western Canada High School in 2021. Now I am studying for my Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Calgary.

My tutoring philosophy
My entire tutoring philosophy revolves around making learning less intimidating. I aim to provide a relaxed environment where students can feel comfortable and I can provide proper support. In my personal experience having a teacher who is excited about the knowledge they are teaching can be the biggest difference in learning concepts. I hope my enthusiasm and willingness to tailor my explanations based on the tutee will help them succeed.

What I enjoy about tutoring
The main enjoyment of tutoring is helping students learn concepts, to provide support for a student's success is very rewarding work. Tutoring also helps me learn how to teach, every student is different and by helping them I get to learn different methods of teaching. I also enjoy being able to practice math and science which will help me refresh precursor knowledge I would use in the pursuit of my degree.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing my degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary.

My tutoring philosophy
With the right support, every student has the potential to achieve their academic goals and I'll help where I can to ensure they feel confident and excited about getting there.

What I enjoy about tutoring
Aside from being great concept reinforcement for myself, helping students believe in their abilities and taking some stress off of homework and tests is what I like most about tutoring.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science as a Biology major at the University of Calgary.

Math, Chemistry, Physics , Calculus
My tutoring philosophy
I believe in tutoring students at their own pace to ensure that they can grasp the material in whatever method or amount of time they require. My approach involves working with students through examples and encouraging them to ask any questions if they are confused about anything.

What I enjoy about tutoring
While I enjoy being able to review fundamentals I learned in high school and improving my own teaching ability, my favorite part about tutoring is helping students find more success academically by helping them gain confidence in their subjects.
Plans for the future
I plan on finishing my degree in biomedical engineering with a minor in software engineering at the University of Calgary. After my degree I currently have my sights set on applying and enrolling in med school.
Thomas
Math, Chemistry, Physics , Calculus
My tutoring philosophy
I base my tutoring around the understanding of the student. Simply telling the student the answer does not help with their understanding of the content and will be ultimately unhelpful in their academic efforts. I often find the best way to execute the us approach is by sampling a variety of questions and approaching them systematically.
What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy helping students unlock their potential and develop confidence in their abilities. Seeing their growth and understanding deepen over time is incredibly rewarding. I also love the challenge of finding creative ways to make learning engaging and accessible for each individual.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering. After this I hope to pursue a career in aerodynamics.

My tutoring philosophy
Each student has a different learning style, and often any academic frustrations stem from a shortcoming in the delivery of content. By being adaptable and understanding, I aim to understand how a student learns best. I will never tell a student what the answer to a question is, but rather, ask them the questions that I ask myself to solve a problem, and walk them through my way to the answer. I want students to be comfortable answering questions wrong, so that in a similar question down the road, they are confident in their approach.
What I enjoy about tutoring
I want to help students not only get through school, but to enjoy and be excited by it. As I progress through University, I have grown to love the learning process, which is something I never felt in highschool. I want everyone to enjoy learning, so I like to help students so they can not just get good grades, but enjoy themselves as they do. I also enjoy pushing myself to find new angles to explain concepts, as this further enforces the understanding in myself.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing my degree in Computer Science at the University of Calgary. I am involved in machine learning research at UofC, in particular regarding medical computer vision. I plan to continue in this path, and pursue graduate degrees, and either stay in academia, or do research and development in the tech industry.
