Meet Our Tutors

Michael Zhuhovitsky
Founder & Tutor in Math, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus
I started out working as a tutor when I was in high school and since then have gained 14+ years of experience with helping students achieve and maintain their academic goals in Math and Sciences. Along the way, I completed my BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary and gained industry experience before deciding to pursue opening my very own tutoring center.
I started Ace It Tutoring not only to help students achieve the success and confidence that plays a pivotal role in University admissions but to also develop the critical thinking skills that will help them throughout their lives. As part of this mission, I personally interview, hire, and train each tutor to ensure they have a comprehensive understanding of the Alberta Math and Science curriculum and how to break down complex theories into simple concepts.

David
Math, Chemistry, Physics , Biology, Calculus
My tutoring philosophy
I believe in tutoring students at their own pace to ensure that they can grasp the material in whatever method or amount of time they require. My approach involves working with students through examples and encouraging them to ask any questions if they are confused about anything.

What I enjoy about tutoring
While I enjoy being able to review fundamentals I learned in high school and improving my own teaching ability, my favorite part about tutoring is helping students find more success academically by helping them gain confidence in their subjects.
Plans for the future
I plan on finishing my degree in biomedical engineering with a minor in software engineering at the University of Calgary. After my degree I currently have my sights set on applying and enrolling in med school.

Patricia
Math, Chemistry, Physics
My tutoring philosophy
I believe that it's important for students to understand why something works, not just how to do it. I always encourage students to try, even if they make mistakes, because mistakes are a valuable part of the learning process.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to explain difficult concepts and the opportunity to reinforce my own knowledge. But what I love the most is watching students grow in both skill and confidence as they become more comfortable with the material themselves.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering at the University of Calgary. After this, I hope to build a career in the tech industry.

Zyad
Math, Chemistry, Biology
My tutoring philosophy
I believe that every student can achieve their academic goals if they have the support they require. Therefore, I intend to understand the needs of any individual student so I can ensure that they get the assistance they need.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy tutoring because it is very fulfilling. Seeing someone I helped overcome significant obstacles makes me feel as though I have contributed to the learning experience of another, and allowed them to find some joy in learning.
Plans for the future
I am currently doing an undergraduate education and natural sciences dual degree program at the UofC. After this, I intend to become a teacher to contribute to the betterment of future students.

Sierra
Math, Chemistry, Biology
My tutoring philosophy
I believe in guiding students toward the solution, allowing them to understand the process rather than simply giving them the answers. By doing this, I hope the student will gain greater confidence in solving similar questions and utilize those skills in the future.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I love interacting with students through subjects I’m passionate about and helping them work toward their goals.
Plans for the future
I am currently a student at the University of Calgary pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue further education to become a pharmacist.

Jayden
Math, Biology, Physics
My tutoring philosophy
With the right support, every student has the potential to achieve their academic goals and I'll help where I can to ensure they feel confident and excited about getting there.

What I enjoy about tutoring
Aside from being great concept reinforcement for myself, helping students believe in their abilities and taking some stress off of homework and tests is what I like most about tutoring.

Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science as a Biology major at the University of Calgary.

Vikram
Math, Calculus, Chemistry and Physics
My tutoring philosophy
Each student has their own background of knowledge, and I believe virtually all academic struggles come from some gap in this background. By understanding where a student is coming from, I can provide an explanation to the question they’re currently struggling while reinforcing the background they’re missing. I think being enthusiastic and patient is the best way to help students.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy finding the explanation that finally makes the concept click in a student's head. I find it extremely rewarding to help a student develop their confidence in what they're learning, and to see that make an impact on their academic success.

Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, with a minor in biomed at UofC. I hope to eventually design medical equipment to improve people's lives.

Sonia
Math, Calculus, Chemistry and Biology
My tutoring philosophy
I believe in supporting students by guiding them step by step to make sure they fully understand the concepts. I encourage students to ask questions so they feel
confident and ready to tackle complex problems on their own.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy helping students realize that with the right support, no subject is impossible to conquer. I love working with students as they build confidence and gain
tools to succeed.

Plans for the future
I have a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary, and I am working
towards building a career in medical device development.

Joshua
Math, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
My tutoring philosophy
I believe that every student is able to achieve academic success and that this can be accomplished by always having someone nearby to provide support and give a personalized approach to push them towards their own understanding.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy being able to help students overcome roadblocks in their learning and being able to see them grow in their learning. It is very fulfilling to see the impact that I can have in helping students grow and succeed in their academic journeys.

Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary

Veer
Math, Calculus, Chemistry, Physics and Biology
My tutoring philosophy
I believe that every student is not only able to achieve success in school, but with the right teacher, it can even be fun. By promoting understanding and mastery of fundamentals, and allowing the student to find the answer instead of giving it to them, it is my hope that the
student will enjoy learning

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy talking students through a problem, and seeing the moment at which they get it. It's immensely satisfying to see students have a moment of clarity.

Plans for the future
I am currently at the University of Calgary, perusing a Bachelor of Computer Science. After completing my degree, I hope to work in cybersecurity.

Rayane
Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Calculus
My tutoring philosophy
The fundamental understanding of concepts is integral to building a proper foundation of knowledge. I believe that as a tutor, going through problems with students, breaking them down to their basics, and building back up to the problem with a deeper understanding of the concepts being tested and knowledge required to solve it is an effective method of study and learning.

What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy helping students gain clarity and confidence by guiding them through misunderstandings. Often, it's not a lack of ability but a need for a new perspective or explanation. Most students are fully capable once the right approach clicks—and I love being part of that moment.
Plans for the future
I am currently taking an Honours BSc degree in Neuroscience with sights on medical school in the future. If given the opportunity (and energy), I would also like to take the Ph.D program as an MD student to become a physician-scientist that focuses on topics of neuroscience and the brain. I garner fulfillment in being able to help people with my skills so being able to do so in many fields would be an honour.

Thomas
Math, Chemistry, Physics , Calculus
My tutoring philosophy
I base my tutoring around the understanding of the student. Simply telling the student the answer does not help with their understanding of the content and will be ultimately unhelpful in their academic efforts. I often find the best way to execute the us approach is by sampling a variety of questions and approaching them systematically.
What I enjoy about tutoring
I enjoy helping students unlock their potential and develop confidence in their abilities. Seeing their growth and understanding deepen over time is incredibly rewarding. I also love the challenge of finding creative ways to make learning engaging and accessible for each individual.
Plans for the future
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering. After this I hope to pursue a career in aerodynamics.
